Love one another with a pure heart fervently
Every time I come across this verse it takes me back to my days as a chorister. 1 Peter 1:22 was set to music by Samuel Wesley and the melody that accompanied these words is as clear today as it was all those years ago.
As we adjust to a new phase of life after government restrictions are lifted this attitude has to be key in the way we operate and organise our events at St Peter’s.
The Church of England’s guidance pick up this theme and recommends that each church works out what measures are most suitable and helpful going forward.
With this in mind we continue to encourage mask wearing in church services and to be mindful of those around us. We will also continue running services in a similar format, including the way we do communion. We recognise that some will still feel unsafe and whilst we look forward to greater freedoms we do so with care-filled steps.
Thank you for your understanding and support for and in this next chapter of church life.
A prayer from the Corymeela Community:
God in our courage, God in our caution:
may we greet each other as companions on a shared journey.
We acknowledge what we and others have carried:
gratitude and sadness, excitement and anxiety;
private struggles and collective hopes.
As we take this next step forward,
may we do so in the knowledge that we do not walk alone. Amen.
