Life is often busy and hectic. The responsibilities we carry can mean we feel we should be on the go all the time, meeting the demands and needs of our daily commitments. The phrase ‘hit the ground running’ conjures the image of an endless supply of energy and determination which can often lead to burnout.
However, in the context of our Christian faith we are invited to remember that our achievements, our responsibilities and our activities are inspired and enabled by God with us. Therefore, and as Stephen Cottrell put it, we need to reframe the phrase to ‘hit the ground kneeling’*.
In our own lives and as we as a church community face the amazing opportunities and challenges of all that lies ahead, including embarking on our building project let’s make this our stance;
hit the ground kneeling.
Lord, in this and the weeks ahead keep our eyes fixed on you –
the author and completer of our faith.
That in the busyness of daily activities we will be inspired
to begin and continue in each day by praying.
And through our prayers we will grow in trusting you in all things. Amen.
