Not everyone likes things when they change! A new job, a new school, a new routine, or a new baby to name a few. It takes us time to adjust to a new reality we find ourselves in. At St Peter’s we are going through a change. Many of you will know that we are commencing building work this summer to replace the failing concrete floor with a new stone floor. Although the change won’t be overnight – we are hoping to be back by Spring 2024 – some changes have started. There are now chairs rather than pews which gives the church a lighter and bigger feel. We opted to do this to create a flexible space which can be better used by the community, Other items such as cupboards and storage areas have been moved in anticipation of the work commencing.
We are fortunate to have such a beautiful building to use as a place of worship to the God we know and who loves us. A God who has promised to be with us to the end of the ages and whose love for us was shown through his Son Jesus Christ dying for us to restore the relationship that had been lost. While routines and buildings and people change around us, we are assured of God’s presence with us, that will not change. We are reminded of this in the book of Lamentations in the Old Testament.
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:22-23
