Bring Me Sunshine

On a wet Monday morning following the half term week we are just a bit too far away from Spring to feel as uplifted as we may wish. The vestiges of winter are still evident, and yet buds, flowers and bird song together with lengthening days herald the change of season.

In days like these I look for good news. News that brings a smile. Imagine my delight to read on BBC News about the decorated bus stop in Fowey. For over 20 years the local community have decorated the bus stop as a means of countering vandalism, giving it a variety of themes with the latest on a horticultural design. Good job!

Bringing a smile to others is so important. This is not to belittle the unwelcome challenges or difficult contexts people face, rather to notice and share those things that warm our hearts and lift the spirits. In sharing good news we acknowledge that true hope and light change the darkness around us.

This week look for ways to bring joy and beauty to others. As we do this prayerfully we reflect the love and care of God who, in the bigger picture of salvation and new life won by Jesus, is constantly working to make all things new.

Lord, help us to rejoice in you today and always.

Help us to share in those acts of goodness

that bring joy to others.

And help us to know the source of true joy is found in Jesus Christ,

our Lord and life-giver. Amen.
