Our Services this Week - Sunday 5 January

BCP Communion

Join us at St Peter's Church at 8am for a quiet, traditional-language communion service using the Book of Common Prayer.

10am

All Age Morning Worship with Communion for Epiphany

Join us at St Peter's church on Epiphany Sunday 5 January at 10am for our All Age worship with Communion.

Everyone is welcome to stay for tea, coffee and a chance to chat after the service.

The service is also live streamed and available here.

6pm

Choral Evensong for Epiphany

Join us at St Peter's church at 6pm for our Epiphany Choral Evensong on Sunday 5 January.

This choir led service features beautiful choral music from St Peter's choir, readings and a short sermon.

11am Tuesdays

Midweek Communion

Join us in church on Tuesdays at 11am for a short communion service.

Followed by tea and coffee.

There is no Tuesday communion on 31st December.

Services restart on Tuesday 7th January in the Octagon.

Friday 3 & Saturday 4 January

St Albans Chamber Opera presents Amahl and the Night Visitors

Gian-Carlo Menotti's one act opera will be performed on Friday 3 January at 6pm and 8pm and on Saturday 4 January at 4pm and 6pm.

Dwelling in the Word (previously called Lectio Divina)

Everyone is welcome to attend Lectio Divina which is held once a month in the church library. Starting at 11am we meet for about an hour and a quarter, to read a short passage of scripture. For more information click here.

Tea on Tuesday

Join us on Tuesday 14 January for Tea on Tuesday. Plenty of chat, tea cake and time to socialise.

Sunday 19 January at 6pm

Themed Evensong

Join us on Sunday 19 January for our Themed Evensong on the life and works of Edith Nesbit who wrote more than 60 children's books including The Railway Children as well as adult poetry and novels.

Stay after for a glass of wine or fruit juice.

Starting Tuesday 21 January 7.30pm

Being With Course

Discover more about Christian faith and life at this Being With course. Takes place on Tuesday evenings in the Octagon from 7.30-9pm starting Tuesday 21 January for 6 weeks. To find out more email Margaret Blake or click here or sign up at the church office.

Wednesday 22 January at 1pm

Lunchtime Concerts

Our lunchtime concerts restart on 22 January at 1pm when they resume with a recital of piano solos and duets by Isabel Beyer and Guy Dagul.
Concerts take place Wednesday's at 1pm during term time. Concerts last just under and hour and are followed by light refreshments in the Octagon.

About Us

Our church has long been a place of hospitality as one the city’s ancient gateway churches and people have worshipped here for over a thousand years.

Today we continue to offer a welcome to many from across the city and surrounding area, whether drawn by the quality of our music and choral tradition, our provision for children and young families, our offering of diverse opportunities for worship, prayer and learning, the strong sense of community we seek to foster - or for many other reasons. Our vision is “everyone is included, loving and generous service is celebrated, faith is nurtured and developed, and everyone is inspired to reach their God-given potential”. We are part of the Church of England, in the Diocese of St Albans, and we have a special relationship with Marlborough Road Methodist Church, with whom we celebrate key services during the year.
